Press Breifing - Fatal shooting in Dublin City Centre on the 28/12/12

Gardai in Mountjoy are now investigating the shooting incident in Dublin City centre on the evening of the 28th December 2012.

A 35 year old man was dropped at St James' Hospital with suspected gunshot wounds at about 7pm. This man was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.

A press briefing will take place at Mountjoy Garda station at 3.45pm today the 29th December 2012.

Gardaí are investigating a shooting incident in Dublin City centre this evening 28th December 2012.

A 35 year old man was dropped at St James' Hospital with suspected gunshot wounds at about 7pm. This man was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.

The car that was used to drop the man at hospital has been located on Cork St., Dublin 8 and the area is preserved for technical examination. The exact location where the shooting took place is not known at this time.

There have been no arrests and a Garda investigation is underway. Gardai are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Kilmainham Garda station on 01 666 9700.
