Male released - Fatal shooting incident on the 29/12/12

Man released from custody - 31st December 2012

A male arrested in connection with the fatal shooting incident on the 29/12/12 was released without charge this morning 31/12/12. A file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí in Kevin Street investigating a shooting incident in Dublin on the evening of the 28th December 2012 have arrested a male in his late 20's in connection with the incident. He is being detained under the provisions of section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Kevin Street Garda station.

Gardaí are investigating a shooting incident in Dublin City centre this evening 28th December 2012. A 35 year old man was dropped at St James' Hospital with suspected gunshot wounds at about 7pm. This man was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.

The car that was used to drop the man at hospital has been located on Cork St., Dublin 8 and the area is preserved for technical examination. The exact location where the shooting took place is not known at this time.  

There have been no arrests and a Garda investigation is underway. Gardai are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Kilmainham Garda station on 01 666 9700.
