Fatal road traffic collision in Newport, Mayo on the 13/11/11

Gardaí at Westport are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 1.45am this morning, Sunday 13th November 2011, on the N59 at Knocknaboley Bridge, Kilmenna, Newport, Co. Mayo.

The 25 year old driver of a car received serious injuries after the car he was driving collided with the bridge.

He was taken to Mayo General Hospital where he died a short time later.

The road is closed at present to facilitate a forensic investigation.
