As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Portlaoise area gardai have seized drugs with an estimated street value of €600,000 on the 18/11/11.
Gardai from Portlaoise stopped and searched a van on Grattan Street, Portlaoise at approximately 3.30pm on the 18/11/11. An amount of cocaine and cannabis herb was seized and the two males in their 30’s present were arrested and brought to Portlaoise Garda Station. In a follow up search later in the evening at a premised on Factory Lane, Portlaoise, further amounts of cocaine and cannabis herb were seized.
In total, drugs with an estimated street value of up to €600,000 (subject to analysis) were seized. The two males arrested remain detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Portlaoise Garda Station.
