Armed robbery at Glanmire, Co. Cork on the 5/8/11 -Update

Gardai from Cobh and Middleton have made four arrests as part of an investigation into an armed robbery at a Bank in Glanmire Co. Cork on the 5th August 2011.

Three males and a female (aged in their 20's & 30's) were arrested this morning (23/11/2011) following an operation in Cork City and East Cork.  They are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Cobh and Middleton Garda Stations.

Background :  

At approximately 10.00 am on the morning of the 5th August 2011 two men armed with a shotgun and a sledge hammer approached and threatened staff making a Cash in Transit delivery at a Bank at Hazelwood shopping centre in Glanmire.  Following a struggle with staff both men fled empty handed. The suspects made their escape in a car which was later found on fire near Windsor Hill, Glounthaune.
