Incident in Cork city on the 22/5/11 - Court appearance

A man in his 30's is due to appear at Cork District Court charged in relation to Sunday's incident at Cork Airport.

The man will appear at 10.30 a.m. on the 24th of May 2011.

Gardai in Cork have arrested a male in his 30's following an incident on Patrick Street, Cork City at approx 4.30pm today, the 22nd May 2011.

During the course of the incident a Garda vehicle was forcibly taken from a member of An Garda Siochana, the member also received stab injuries during the incident, and he is now in a stable  condition in Cork Uinversity Hospital.

The Garda vehicle was then driven to Cork Airport where the male forcibly entered through the perimeter fencing of the Airport. He then took an Airport Emergency vehicle.  He was arrested by Gardai from Cork and was taken to Togher Garda Station.  Another member of An Garda Siochana was injured in a collision with the stolen Garda vehicle and has been taken to CUH where his injuries are described as non life threatening.
