Serious assault in Terenure, DUblin on the 25/3/11

Shortly before 5.20am this morning, Friday 25th March 2011, Gardaí from Terenure were called to the scene of an assault at Greenmount Lawns, Dublin 6W.

On arrival at the scene they found a man in a collapsed state on the porch of a house.  He had suffered a stab wound to the stomach and chest. On entering the house they discovered another man with lesser stab wound injuries.  Both men were taken to St. James's Hospital by ambulance crews.

The man with lesser injuries has since been released from hospital and is 26 years of age.

The other man (no age yet - possibly middle aged) remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A 36 year old man was arrested at the scene and is presently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Terenure Garda Station.  He can be detained for a maximun period of 24 hours.
