Drug seizure at Bective, Meath on the 16th March 2010

As a result of an intelligence led operation Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by members from Meath Drug and Detective Units carried out a search of a farm and warehouses at Bective, Co. Meath today the 16th March 2011 at approx 2pm.

During the course of the search Gardai discovered 1,720 cannabis plants in various stages of growth with an approximate value of €680,000(subject to analysis). Five prisoners (40, 43, 37, 32 and 60 yrs) were arrested and are being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Three are being detained in Kells Garda Station and two in Navan Garda station.<_o3a_p>

This operation is a part of Operation Nitrogen which investigates all aspects of Cannabis cultivation.<_o3a_p>
