Court appearance Limerick

A 18 year old man appeared in Limerick District Court this afternoon (25/3/11) charged in connection with the murder of 71 year old James Boyce on 7th March 2011.

No other persons remain in custody in relation to this investigation.

The Post Mortem on the 71 year old man found in a house at St Munchin’s Street has been concluded. (Please see Press Release 203/11) attached. The results of the Post Mortem have been supplied to investigating Gardaí but are not being released for operational reasons.

This is now a Murder enquiry.

Gardaí will hold a Press Briefing at Mayorstone Garda Station at 8pm this evening (8/3/11)

The deceased man has been named as James Boyce 71 years.

Anyone who may have seen Mr Boyce between the early hours of Saturday morning (5/3/11) and late yesterday evening (7/3/11), or who have may information in relation to this incident is asked to contact the Garda incident room at Mayorstone Garda Station 061-456989, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí at Henry Street in Limerick are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a 71 year old man in a house at St Munchin’s Street, St Mary’s Park, Limerick City yesterday evening 7/3/11.

A Post Mortem is currently taking place at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The scene at St Munchin’s Street is being examined by the Garda Technical Bureau.
