Witness Appeal Cork

Gardai at Anglesea St. are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a male aged in his 40s on the 16th July 2011.

At approximately 7pm, on the 15th July 2011, Gardai arrested a male aged in his 40s under the Public Order Act following an incident at Parnell Place, Cork.


While in custody the man’s condition deteriorated. He was taken by Ambulance to Cork University Hospital for medical attention in the early hours of this morning (16.7.2011) and was pronounced dead at approximately 255pm.


The matter was referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission pursuant to the Garda Siochana Act 2005.


The State Pathologist was notified and a post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow afternoon (17.7.2011) at Cork University Hospital.


Investigating Gardai are in particular appealing to anyone in the vicinity of the Bus Station and Parnell Place, between 630pm and 730pm on the 15th July 2011, who noticed any suspicious activity to contact them.
