Fatal Hit and Run in Co. Monaghan on the 26/6/11 - Witness Appeal

Gardai investigating a fatal hit and run traffic collision are making a further appeal for the public’s assistance.

The collision occurred on a minor road between Drumnart and Lemgare, Clontibret, Co. Monaghan in the early hours of Sunday, the 26th June 2011.  Fintan Traynor, aged 20 years, of Lemgare, Clontibret was fatally injured when he was struck by a car.

Gardai are appealing for the driver of an Audi A4 car, which was seen in the area at the time of the crash, to come forward.  We would particularly like to speak with anyone who used the road between 2.00 a.m. and 7.30 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, the 26th of June 2011.

The road where the collision took place is not widely used and we believe that there may be people locally who might have valuable information and have not come forward.   Gardai are also appealing for garages who may have been asked to carry out recent repairs on cars  to contact them.

Gardai would also appeal to the driver of the car who dropped the deceased and his friend home from Castleblaney that morning to come forward and assist them.

Anyone with information or who can assist with this investigation is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200 , The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
