Investigation into discovery of a body in Clare on the 31/3/11 - Court appearance

Gardaí investigating the murder of Deirdre McCarthy have this evening 6th April 2011 charged a male (39yrs) in connection with her death.

He will appear before <_st13a_street _w3a_st="on"><_st13a_address _w3a_st="on">Ennis District Court at 10.30am tomorrow morning, the 7th April 2011.

Gardaí investigating the murder of Deirdre McCarthy have this morning (5th April 2011) arrested a male.

He is in his late 30's, and is being detained under the provisions of  Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended in Ennis Garda station.

Gardai at Ennistymon are appealing for witnesses and information following the discovery of a body at Fanore, Co. Clare, on 31/3/2011.

The deceased has been named by investigating Gardai as 43 year old Deirdre McCarthy of Turlough House, Ballyvaughan.

A post mortem examination is being carried out and Gardai are awaiting the results. From the investigation so far it is known that Deirdre McCarthy died in violent and suspicious circumstances.

Gardai are in particular appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or movements at or in the vicinity of Turlough House, or on the roads in and out of Ballyvaughan, Lisdoonvarna, or Kilfanora, between 1130pm on Sunday 27/3/2011 and 7am on Monday 28/3/2011, to contact them.
