Witness appeal for fatal Carlow collision

Gardai in Carlow investigating this morning's(23/10/10) fatal road traffic collision near Leighlinbridge are seeking witnesses to the incident.

Gardai would particularly like to talk to a man in a dark tracksuit, who was walking or jogging in the area around the time of the crash.  The man was on the left hand side of the road and walking or running in the direction of Bagnalstown from the Leighlinbridge direction.

Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the N9 at Killinane, Leighlinbridge, Co.Carlow at 7.25 am on the 23rd of October 2010.

A man in his 60s the driver of a car was fatally injured in a two car crash. The female driver and a passenger in the other car were removed to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.

The road at the scene of the collision is expected to be closed for a number of hours to allow Garda forensic collision investigators to carry out an examination at the scene.  Diversions are in place at Royal Oak and Leighlinbridge.

Garda are are asking anyone who was on the N9 this morning the 23rd of October 2010, between 7.00 am and 8.00 am, to contact them at Carlow Garda station on 059 9136620.
