Serious incident which occurred at Castle Road, Dundalk on the 13/10/10 - Arrests and further appeal

Gardai in Dundalk are investigating an incident which occurred at Castle Road, Dundalk between 9.00pm and 9.20pm last night 13th October 2010.

An 18 year old male was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital following what is believed to have been a row between a number of people, he sustained head injuries and subsequently died from his injuries on the 14th of October.  A post mortem examination will be carried at Louth County Hospital on the 15th of October 2010.

 
Two men in their early 20's have been arrested in relation to the incident and are detained at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1884.
 

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have been in the Castle Road area of Dundalk between 9.00pm and 9.30pm last night 13th October 2010, or anyone who may have any information to contact Dundalk Garda station on 042-9388400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.

 

Gardai would particularly like to speak to a motorist who reported the incident to a passing Garda patrol car.

 

A press briefing will be held at Dundalk Garda Station on the 15th of October 2010 at  11.00 a.m.

An 18 year old male was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital following what is believed to have been an altercation between a number of youths.  It is believed that he sustained head injuries.
 

His condition is believed to be serious.
