Fatal road traffic collision on the M20 near Rathduff, Cork on the 15/10/10

Gardaí at Blarney are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 9.30am this morning Friday, the 15th October 2010.

It happened on the N20 near the village of Rathduff and involved an articulated truck and a car.
 
The 41 year old male driver and sole occupant of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
 
The road is closed at present and diversions are being put in place.  It is the main Cork to Mallow road and motorists travelling towards Mallow will be diverted at Bweeng and those travelling towards Cork will be diverted at Bottle Hill.
 
Ideally motorists should avoid taking this route if possible.
