Drug seizures and arrest in Meath on the 5th and 6th October 2010

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit, supported by Gardai from Meath Division, have discovered a cannabis growing operation and made a number of drug seizures in the Dunshaughlin area.

The operation began Monday evening, the 4th October 2010, with the search of a premises near Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath.  Gardaí discovered the cannabis growing operation and seized 340 cannabis plants.

In a follow-up operation yesterday afternoon, the 5th October, two further searches took place.  At Culmullin, Dunshaughlin Gardaí seized 450 cannabis plants as, well as 10kg of processed cannabis herb, and at Hallstown, Dunshaughlin Gardaí seized a further 150 cannabis plants.

A 54 year old Vietnamese man was arrested at Hallstown and is currently detained at Kells Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The total seizure, subject to analysis, has a potential street value of half a million Euro.
