Arrests in Longford

Gardai in Longford Town investigating a fire at a house in Pauric Calum Heights in Longford on the night of the 1st October 2010. Have arrested a total of 4 males.

3 males (21,21 and 22yrs)were arrested on the 1st Oct and the 4th  male(34yrs) was arrested on the 2nd Oct 2010)

Substantial damage was caused to the house which was occupied by a number of people at the time of the incident.

A 11 year old girl sustained serious burns and is currently being treated in Crumlin Hospital. She is described as being in a stable condition.

The arrested males were detained under the provisions of Section 30 Of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended. Two were detained in Roscommon and two in Longford.

On the evening of the 2nd October 2010 two men(who were being detained in Longford Garda Station) were charged in connection with the incident and will appear before a Special sitting of Longford District Court at 11am on Sunday the 3rd October 2010.

The 2 detained in Roscommon remain in custody.
