Man arrested in Dublin on connection with shooting on the River Road, Dublin on the 15/7/10

Gardai investigating a shooting incident on River Road, Dublin 7 on the 15th July 2010, in which a man was seriously injured, have arrested a 28 year old man. This is the first arrest in this case.

The man was arrested this morning the 29th  November 2010 in Finglas and is detained at Cabra Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939 for unlawful possession of a firearm with intent to endander life.  He may be detained for up to 72 hours.

Gardai are investigating a shooting incident on River Road,  Dublin 7 at about 9.20 a.m. on the 15th of July 2010. Two men in a van were approached by at least one gunman.  The occupants of the van received a number of gunshot wounds and the gunman is believed to have escaped on foot.

The two injured men were removed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardtown, their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The area is sealed off pending a technical examination and River Road is closed to traffic.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who was on River Road, between 8.30 and 10.00 a.m. this morning to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cabra Garda Station on  666 7400 or the Garda Confidentail line on 1800 666 111.
