3 Arrests - Robbery in Edenderry Co Offaly 28/11/2010

Gardai in Tullamore are investigating an incident which occurred in Edenderry, Co Offaly on the 28th November 2010.The incident occurred at approx. 12.45am on the 28th Nov 2010 when a female in her 50’s was approached by a male on Father Paul Murphy Street, Edenderry.

He took her handbag which contained a sum of money and jumped into a car which sped off in the direction of Carbury, Co Kildare. The Gardai in Edenderry were alerted and observed the suspect car. There was a collision between the Garda Car and the suspect car. The suspect car continued towards Broadford it was being pursued by Gardai from local stations and also by members from the Regional Support Unit.

The suspect car was eventually stopped at approx 2.50am on the 28th Nov 2010 in Kilmore, Cadamstown, Co Kildare and 3 people were later arrested(2 males, 25yrs & Juvenile and a female 20yrs) they were conveyed to Tullamore Garda Station where they are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. A sum of cash was also recovered.

The injured party received minor injuries and was treated locally; one member of An Garda Siochana was also injured and was taken to Tullamore Hospital where he was subsequently released.
