Armed robbery at Prosperous Post Office, Kildare on the 9/6/10

Two men in their mid 20’s have been arrested following an armed robbery at Prosperous Post Office, Co. Kildare which occurred this morning, the 9th June 2010.

The men entered the Post Office at approximately 9.35am armed with what is believed to have been a sledge hammer and a knife. A small amount of cash was taken and no-one was injured. The men made their escape in a car in the direction of Naas.

As the result of a follow up operation involving an off-duty member of An Garda Síochána, local Gardai from Clondalkin and the Garda Air Support both men were arrested on the M7 near Clondalkin.

The two men are currently detained at Naas Garda Station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are on-going.
