Drug Seizure and arrests at Dunboyne, Meath on the 26/9/09

The operation began shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, 26th of September 2009.

 

Gardai have arrested four men and seized a quantity of cannabis herb valued €120,000 following searches in the Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Huntstown in Dublin 15, and at Athlone Co. Westmeath.

 

The operation began shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, 26th of September 2009, when Gardai stopped and searched a car at Main Street, Dunboyne, three kilos of what is believed to be cannabis herb were discovered.

 

In a follow up search, at a premises in Dunboyne, a further 2 kilos of cannabis were found.

 

Gardai then searched a house in Huntstown, Dublin 15, where they recovered 5kgs of the drug.  A further 1kg was found following a search of a house in Athlone.

 

Four men have been arrested in relation to the seizure, two are in their 40s and two in their 20s.  They are detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, three are held at Blanchardstown Garda station and one at Finglas.  They may be detained for up to 7 days.

 

The operation was carried out by Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit, the Garda Organised Crime Unit and local detectives.
