Suspicious device in the driveway of a house on Dun Laoghaire, Dublin on the 28/5/09

Gardaí at Kill-O-The Grange received a phone call shortly after 6.15pm on Thursday, 28th May 2009 stating that there was a suspicious device in the driveway of a house on Rose Park, Kill Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

On arrival at scene Gardaí discovered a device on the driveway of a house near the rear of a car.

The scene was sealed off, local houses were evacuated and the services of an Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team was requested.

When the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team arrived at scene they took safe possession of the device and removed it to Cathal Brugha Barracks where it was dismantled and determined to be viable.

An investigation is ongoing and it was established that this device was left on the driveway between 5.50pm on 27th May 2009 and 6.20pm on 28th May 2009.
