A 31 year old female who was the victim of an assault on Parnell Square East on Thursday, 18th June 2009, died this afternoon in Beaumont Hospital.
The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem will take place tomorrow.
There have been 2 arrests in relation to this incident.
A 34 year old female was arrested Tuesday, 23rd June 2009, and was subsequently released later that day without charge.
A file will be prepared for The Director of Public Prosecutions.
The second arrest was made this morning. It was of a 32 year old man and was made in the Clondalkin area of Dublin.
He is presently being detained under section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act at Store Street Garda Station.
Gardaí are renewing their appeal for public assistance in relation to this incident.
