Firearm seizures in Dublin on the 28/1/09.

Gardai from Rathfarnham Garda Station recovered 7 firearms during a search in the Ballycullen area yesterday evening the 28.01.09.

 

Gardai have recovered 8 firearms following searches in the Dublin area.

Gardai from Rathfarnham Garda Station recovered 7 firearms during a search in the Ballycullen area yesterday evening (28.01.09).

As a result of intelligence received, Gardai conducted a planned search of open ground in the Ballycullen area. While conducting the search an assortment of seven, (7) handguns were recovered.

They have been forwarded to the Garda Ballistic Section for technical examination.

In a separate search, Gardai from Blanchardstown conducted a planned search of a house in the Corduff area last night (28.01.09) shortly after 11pm. This was part of an on going operation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Blanchardstown area.

During the course of the search a handgun was recovered along with cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €7,000, subject to analysis.

A male in his early 20’s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. He can be held for a period up to 7 days.
