Drug seizure and viable device discovery at Wexford on the 26/2/09.

As the result of an intelligence led operation a planned search of a number of premises were conducted by Gardaí at New Ross, Wexford.

 

As the result of an intelligence led operation a planned search of a number of premises were conducted by Gardaí at New Ross earlier today.

The searches took place in the Ballywilliam area and commenced at 10am. They concluded at approximately 5pm.

2,480 ecstasy tablets were seized which have a potential street value in excess of €20,000, depending on an analysis of the substances seized.

A small amount of what is suspected to be cocaine was also seized (€5,000 approx.).

During the course of the search 2 suspect devices were also discovered. The services of the Army Explosive Odrinance Disposal team were requested and after carrying out a controlled explosion they determined that the devices were viable.

A 38 year old man was arrested and he is presently detained at New Ross Garda Station under Section 2 of The Drug Trafficking Act.
