Discovery of body in Wicklow on the 24/12/09

A body was discovered in Co. Wicklow as part of the the investigation into the disappearance of Stephen O'Meara.

Gardai investigating the disappearance of Stephen O’ Meara have today (24/12/09) discovered what appears to be a body in a shallow grave in a wooded area at Ballydonnell which is near Red Cross, Co. Wicklow.

The body was discovered at approximately 2.30pm today, the 24/12/09.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and the scene has been preserved pending the arrival of a Garda Technical Bureau team.

A man in his 20’s who was arrested on Monday, the 21st December 2009 as part of this investigation remains in custody in Wicklow Garda Station. He is detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. His period of detention has been extended.
