Joint operation to Lagos on the 29/4/09

This operation is being carried out in conjunction with Frontex. The participating States are: Ireland, United Kingdom, Spain, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Malta.

The purpose of this operation is to deport Nigerian Nationals, (subject of deportation orders) from Ireland and from other participating States by chartered aircraft to their homeland.

The following deportation took place from Ireland shortly after 10pm on 29th April 2009:   11 adult males, 5 adult females and 9 children. 

Following the departure from Ireland the flight will go to Madrid where other persons from the above listed countries boarded the flight. The flight will then proceed to Lagos where those deported will disembark and the accompanying police officers will return to their home countries. 

The operation is co-ordinated in Ireland by the Garda National Immigration Bureau and the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service. 

In addition to Garda escort on the flight medical personnel including a doctor and nurse are on board.
