Gardai at Bailieboro, Co. Cavan are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 3.50am this morning, the 27/09/08 at Burrenrea (3km on the Kells side of Virginia) on the N3.
An 19 year old female pedestrian received fatal injuries when she was struck by a vehicle. The road remains closed and is being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, diversions are in place.
Gardai are particularly interested in making contact with a male who telephoned Bailieboro Garda Station shortly before 4am. In addition any member of the public that may have travelled this stretch of road between 3.30am and 4.10am this morning and have information to offer to contact them at 042-9694570 or at the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
