Arrests and seizure of firearms at Tipperary on the 29/5/08.

Gardai in Co. Tipperary have arrested four men and seized a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition on the 29th of May 2008.

 

A 26 year old male will appear at a special sitting of Cashel District Court this evening (31/05/08) at 7.30pm in relation to this incident. 

The other three men who were detained have been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to their detentions.

Gardai in Co. Tipperary have arrested four men and seized a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition, this afternoon the 29th of May 2008.  

Shortly after 12.00 noon Gardai on Patrol near Limerick Junction railway station spotted two men acting suspiciously. 

When the men were searched a sawn off shotgun, a pistol and 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition were discovered. 

The men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested and are detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act at Tipperary Garda Station. They can be detained for up to 72 hours. 

In follow up searches at premises in Co Tipperary two further arrests were made. 

The arrested men, one aged 28 and the other in his early 30's, are detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Cahir Garda Station.
