Operation 'Clean Street' - Sligo/Leitrim drug operation

Sligo/Leitrim Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by members from the Garda National Drugs Unit were involved in Operation 'Clean Street' in the Sligo District.

 

Since November 2007 members from Sligo/Leitrim Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by members from the Garda National Drugs Unit were involved in Operation 'Clean Street' in the Sligo District.  

Operation 'Clean Street' is a covert operation aimed at disrupting local drug dealers in the Sligo area. 

In a follow up operation members of the Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by the Crime Task Force Unit, and Regular units carried out a total of 12 searches in Co. Sligo and Leitrim from Sunday 20/7 to Tuesday 22/07/08.  

A number of Cannabis plants and cultivation equipment were seized in one of the searches. Cannabis resin and cocaine were found at a number of other search locations. 

A total of five males were arrested and questioned in relation to the sale and supply of controlled drugs.   

A number of people will appear before Sligo District Court on 31-07-08 arising out of these arrests.
