As a result of an intelligence led operation launched by the Garda National Drugs Unit, targeting a drug dealing gang operating in west Dublin and Kildare, a number of searches were carried out last night.

These searches were conducted in the Celbridge and Clondalkin areas.  During the course of one of the searches in Simmonstown Manor, Celbridge, Gardaí seized 20Kgs of cocaine.

This seizure, depending on analysis, has a potential street value of €1.4 million.

The operation also uncovered significant paraphernalia relating to the mixing and processing of cocaine, including mixing agents, scales, blenders, a pressing machine and a vacuum packing machine.  Gardaí see the disruption of this mixing factory as a significant development.

A 21 year year old man was arrested at the scene of the seizure and is presently detained at Naas Garda Station under section 2 of The Drug Trafficking Act.

The Garda National Drugs Unit was assisted in this operation by Local drugs units.
