Drug seizure in Tallaght, Dublin on the 25/1/08 - and court update

As part of ongoing operations targeting the illegal supply of drugs, four arrests and a significant seizure was made in the Tallaght area of Dublin.

 

The four men who where detained in Rathfarnham, Tallaght and Terenure Garda Stations have been charged in relation to the drug seizure in the Tallaght area of Dublin on Friday 25th January, 2008. 

The four men will remain in Garda custody and will appear at Tallaght District Court on Monday morning 28th January, 2008 at 10.30 a.m.

As part of ongoing operations targeting the illegal supply of drugs, four arrests and a significant seizure was made yesterday evening / last night in the Tallaght area of Dublin. This phase of the operation was undertaken by the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Irish Customs Service and involved Gardai from Crime & Security Branch and the Garda Drug Unit, Tallaght.

In the course of the operation four men were arrested – three in their 20’s and one in his 30’s – and a total of 5 premises (private houses & commercial premises) in the south & west Dublin areas were searched.  Approximately 10kg of a substance suspected to be heroin was recovered. 

This seizure, depending on forensic analysis could have an estimated street value of up to €2m.   In addition a small quantity of what is suspected to be cannabis and cocaine, with a combined street value of approximately €5,000 was also recovered.

The four men arrested are currently detained at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
