Suspect device at Seville Place, Dublin on the 25/4/08 - and update.

A suspicious device had been put through a letter box of a house on First Avenue, Seville Place, Dublin.

 

The Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team have completed their examination of the device found on First Avenue, Seville Place last night and have declared it as being viable.

At approximately 11.45pm on the 25/04/08 a call was received at the Garda Control Centre stating that a suspicious device had been put through a letter box of a house on First Avenue, Seville Place, Dublin 1. 

On arrival at the scene Gardaí from Store Street found a cylindrical device on the road at First Avenue. 

The area was sealed off, homes in the vicinity of First Avenue and Seville Place were evacuated and an Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal  team was requested. 

An initial examination of the device by the EOD team concluded that the device was a hoax and it was removed by them for a more detailed examination. 

The scene was opened at 1.15am on 26/04/'08. 

Investigations are ongoing.
