The Gardaí at Finglas Garda Station are investigating an Aggravated Burglary at a public house that occurred on the bank holiday Monday, 8th August 2014 at 6.15am.
An employee arrived for work at 6.15am. A shortly time later there was a knock on the window at the side of the pub. The employee opened the door and was confronted by two men purporting to be from a gas company. They said there was a gas emergency. The employee was threatened by these men and had a knife held to his throat. The men demanded the keys to the safe room which they eventually located. One of the men opened the rear door to allow three other raiders enter the pub.
The raiders stole a safe, cigarettes and alcohol during the burglary. They loaded these items into a blue Ford Transit Van (circa 2001 to 2007 model).The employee was then tied with duct tape and placed in a locked room until another employee freed him an hour later.
The raiders are described as follows:
The first raider between 5’9’’ – 5’ 11’’ in height, average build. He wore a white New York Yankees baseball cap, black jacket, blue jeans, grey runners, black gloves, and a dark neck warmer pulled up over his face.
The second raider was 5’9’’ – 5’11’’ in height and of average build. He wore grey trainers and workman’s black trousers with lots of pockets.
The third raider wore a red hoody with a hat underneath. He wore dark trousers, black shoes and white surgical gloves.
The fourth raider had a black jacket, black trousers, black baseball cap and scarf and white surgical gloves.
The fifth raider wore a New York Mets baseball cap with a white top and dark peak, black jacket, trousers and shoes and a grey or white scarf covering his face. All raiders are described as having spoken with an eastern European type language.
• Gardaí are appealing to anyone in the vicinity of Finglas village on the morning of bank holiday Monday the 4th August 2014 and may have seen five men acting suspiciously.
• Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who may have seen the light blue Ford Transit van, possibly 2001 to 2007 model.
• Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been offered cigarettes or quantities of alcohol since this incident.
