- Victimisation rate at 5.7% in Q2 2017 down from 6.9% in Q1 2017, and down from 9% in Q2 2016
- 9% increase in victim satisfaction from Q2 2016 to Q2 2017
- Reduction in the fear of crime
- 6% year-on-year increase in satisfaction levels with service from An Garda Síochána
- Perceptions of the organisation generally higher in 2017 than in 2016

New Public Procurement Guidelines for Goods and Services July 2017
The Public Procurement Guidelines for Goods and Services, Version 1 July 2017 was launched by the Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure.
These Guidelines take account of the new Procurement Directives which came into force in April 2016 and are designed to inform public sector buyers on the impact of the new Directives and the need to encourage SME participation in public contracts.

Protected Disclosures Policy
Any member of An Garda Síochána who raises issues will be fully supported. Each and every Garda member must know they have the right and responsibility to raise their concerns and be confident that they will be listened to and addressed.
In recent weeks, a Protected Disclosures Manager has been appointed and An Garda Síochána have begun establishing a dedicated team who will be appropriately trained to oversee all matters related to protected disclosures.
In addition, we are working with external experts in this area such as Transparency Ireland to help us create an environment to ensure people speaking up are supported and protected in An Garda Síochána.

Ghost Broking is a term given to two possible types of fraud relating to false Insurance documents.
There are two ways to obtain a valid Certificate of Motor Insurance:
1. By purchasing one directly from a reputable Insurance Company that is authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
2. By purchasing one from an Insurance Broker otherwise known as an Insurance Intermediary that is authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Victim Information Leaflet
If you have been a victim of crime, we have prepared a Garda Victim Information Leaflet (VIL) that will provide you with some relevant information that can help you access your entitlements as set out in the EU Directive 2012/29/EU which establishes the minimum standards on the rights, support and protection for victims of crime.
You do not need to formally report your crime to An Garda Síochána to access the free services at victim support services
The leaflet contains information about entitlements to access victim support, legal aid, compensation, interpretation, and witness expenses. You can use any of the contact details which are listed in the Victim Information Leaflet or if you require further information please contact your local Garda Victim Service Office

Public assistance sought in locating owners of tools seized in May 2017
Gardai wish to seek the public’s assistance in tracing the owners of property they have recovered.
In May of this year Gardai conducting a checkpoint on Stockhole Lane, Cloughran, Co. Dublin stopped a van containing a large amount of new and second hand power tools. The tools, with an approximate value of up to €26,000 were seized.
Many of the tools seized are specialised items that would only be used by car or heavy goods mechanics and may have been taken from such garages.
