Management Accountant
The Management Accounting section
A Management Accountant manages the Management Accounting Section. He is supported by a team of 5 people - 2 Assistant Accountants and 3 civilian staff. The Management Accountant reports to the Director of Finance.
The Management Accounting Section's functions include:-

Providing up to date management information to all Garda Regions, Divisions and Districts

Monitoring of Expenditure and the provision of variance analysis

Devolvement of budgets to regions and branches and specified budget managers

Assisting sections with all queries relating to budgets and expenditure

Production of the Multi-Annual Budgets and Annual Estimates submissions to the Department of Finance in respect of the Garda Vote

Provision of detailed costings on major events requiring significant Garda policing
Management Accounting Section projects include:-

Overtime Remote Entry Project: This project will result in all Garda overtime and allowances being electronically transferred to the Financial Shared Services Centre in Killarney for payment. This will significantly increase the speed at which claims are processed. The system is currently being implemented in every District Office nationwide.

Activity Based Costing: This initiative will allow An Garda Síochána to cost regular policing activities.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT): This project was fully implemented in 2008 resulting in payment by EFT to all Garda Members, civilians and suppliers.
