Traffic Restrictions

There will be no car parking available on Westport Quay from 10.00hrs to 19.00hrs on 14th May 2017.

Traffic travelling from the N59 North (Newport, Achill, Belmullet and other north Mayo areas) attending the event will be directed to dedicated parking areas within and around the Westport industrial estate.

Traffic travelling from Castlebar will be directed towards the Newport road via Castlebar St, North mall and Newport Road.

For traffic travelling from the southeast of the County (Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Galway) will be directed to Sandyhill road. The road will be manned at both ends and will be operated as one way for traffic approaching the Town from the R330.
All traffic will be diverted up the Sandyhill road to access the site via Carrabaun and the West road (Fire station junction) Traffic wishing to exit Town will be directed down High Street, Mill St, Altamont St and the R330 Ballinrobe Road.

Event signage including VMS will be installed to clearly identify all route diversions, road closures, car parking and shuttle bus routes.

The car parks will be open at 12.00 noon until 8pm on May 14th 2017. Visitors are advised that it is your responsibility to allow an adequate amount of time to get to Westport and transfer between the car park and the event area on Westport Quay.

Disabled Parking

Parking for attendees with a disability will be directed to the Quay School via the Ardmore road. This will be the only dedicated disability parking area for the site. Attendees must produce a valid permit at the road closure cordon to access this area.

A drop off area will be available at the junction of Quay Coast Road and Ardmore Road for attendees with disability.

For more information about accessibility at the Westport Airshow please see our dedicated page here.

Car Park Arrangements

All public and private vehicles travelling to the event will be directed to the five main areas for additional parking:

Northern Car Parks

Pedestrian access routes to the quay area will be put in place via the green way at Westport House.

Westport House Car Parks

Extra car park capacity will be available via Golf Course Road with pedestrian access through Westport House.
Southern Car Parks

Pedestrian exit routes to access the quay area will be put in place via the adjacent Green Way.
Town Car Parks

There are 4 main car parks within the urban area and a significant number of on street parking available for attendees. It is likely that a large number of these spaces will be utilised from overnight guests parking on the previous day. Pedestrian exit routes to access the quay area will be put in place via Church lane and Westport House, also via the Town greenway and the Quay Road. It's just a 23 minute walk to the event site from the Town Centre.
Eastern Car Parks

Initially traffic travelling from the east of the County (Castlebar road) will be directed towards the town car parks and the to the Newport Road to access parking within the Northern car parks around the industrial estate area. When significant congestion starts to occur traffic will then be directed to dedicated parking areas on the Lodge Road and Castlebar Road.

Plan your journey here:

Shuttle Bus
A shuttle bus service will be provided from Eastern Car Parks, at the Westport Train Station and there's a pick up service at Westport town square monument only with a drop off point at the statue at Hobans Centra starting at 1pm.

The cost for the Shuttle Bus service is €2.00 per person and a family ticket (Two adults and 3 children) is €5.00 one way.
