An Garda Síochána’s Campaign for 16 Days of Activism Campaign 2021

An Garda Síochána is proud to support 16 Days of Activism on domestic abuse and gender based violence.  The period of action occurs internationally and runs each year from 25th November (UN Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10th December 2021 (International Human Rights Day).

We in An Garda Síochána, the Irish Police Service, take domestic and sexual abuse very seriously and are here to help.  Domestic abuse can take a variety of forms such as physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and financial abuse.  It can occur within a family between one family member against another.  It can involve a current or ex-partner, regardless of gender or sexuality.

Domestic abuse is a high volume, high impact crime and we know that if you are experiencing domestic abuse you can feel isolated and alone.  You do not know who to trust or who you can confide in.  An Garda Síochána are here to listen, we are here to help.

Social Media Platforms During each day of this campaign, An Garda Síochána will be communicating a number of messages via social media. These messages will be in 13 different languages in an effort to reach out to those where English may not be their first language.

13 different languages - Polish, French, Romanian, Lithuanian, Spanish, German, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, Urdu, Irish.

External Presentations An Garda Síochána will be contributing to a number of external presentations over the course of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign.
